What is Zoom Pro?

Zoom is a web-based video meeting tool. It works through either a web browser, a local desktop client, or a mobile app. At the University of Utah, Zoom Pro is also included in Canvas courses. Users can choose to record sessions, collaborate on projects, and share or annotate one another's screens.
The Zoom Pro license extends the duration of a meeting or session to 24 hours, rather than the basic license restriction of 40 minutes. Up to 300 participants may join a meeting or session.

Who Needs
a Zoom Pro License?

The only individual who needs a licensed version of Zoom Pro (for meetings longer than 40 minutes with up to 300 participants) is the host of a Zoom meeting, i.e., the person setting up the meeting and hosting the session. 
Regular participants do NOT require a Zoom account in order to join and engage in a Zoom session.

Is Payment Needed
for a Zoom Pro License?

No. Beginning in June 2020, the University of Utah is paying the cost of Zoom Pro User Licenses for University of Utah faculty, staff, employees and students with a University ID (uNID).
If you need additional functionality, such as webinars, large meetings (over 300 participants), etc., these will be available for purchase through the OSL Webstore starting July 1st, 2020.
