A/V Technology Design & Installation for Learning Spaces
We install, refurbish, and upgrade audio/visual teaching technologies for classrooms, labs, auditoriums, seminar rooms and conference rooms. We provide this service using a portion of University IT funds and student computing fees each budget year.
Self Funded Installations
We install audio/visual equipment in conference rooms, seminar rooms, classrooms, lecture halls and labs for colleges and departments. Colleges and departments usually pay for the installation and maintenance of audio/visual equipment, and they are responsible for scheduling and controlling their use. We offer consultations for design, equipment installation of department and college rooms and will provide a quote before any work begins.
A/V Technology Maintenance & Repair
We maintain and repair audio/visual equipment installed in University of Utah learning spaces, which includes classrooms, labs, auditoriums, seminar, and conference rooms. We perform routine checkups year-round on all installed audio/visual equipment.
Academic Coursework Equipment Checkout
We provide audio/visual equipment and technology checkout services for faculty, staff, and students who plan to use the equipment for academic course purposes.
University Community Event Equipment Checkout
We provide portable audio/visual equipment checkout services for a nominal fee for faculty, staff, and students for events unrealted to academic courses. We deliver most equipment or make them available for pick-up at our office.
Flipped Classroom Technology Equipment Checkout
We provide equipment and technology demos and trials for flipping a course. We have tablets, headsets, document cameras, GoPro cameras, and Wacom products.
Consultations & Training
We offer one-on-one and small group Canvas consultations ranging from a quick tutorial to in-depth instruction for a particular Canvas feature. We also provide walk-in hours from 9AM to 4PM during the business week for sessions lasting up to 20 minutes.
Guides & Tutorials
We provide guides, tutorials, and tips relating to Canvas for facutly, staff and students.
We provide technical support for Canvas and vendor sevices included in the Canvas portfolio for the entire university. We encourage faculty, staff, and students to contact us for support.
Audience Response System (Clickers)
Audience Response System allows students to answer questions posed by the instructor using cloud-based applications.
Camtasia is both a video editor and screen recorder featuring video effects and drag-and-drop editing. Give us a call if you need assistance with this powerful tool.
eTutoring is a collaborative online tutoring program featuring an online writing lab and live one-on-one tutoring sessions for various subjects.
We support Ink2Go, a simple but powerful screen annotation and recording software that you can download free of charge on the Office of Software Licensing.
Pathbrite is a cloud-based portfolio platform in which students can aggregate and showcase all digital artifacts of their work.
We investigate the latest and greatest educational technology tools in order to improve the quality of educational technology for faculty, staff, and students.
Proctored Exam Creation
We can help instructors design and develop computer-based proctored exams for successful testing, including proctored services and levels of security, Monday through Friday during business hours.
Scheduling Proctored Exams
We can advise online instructors on scheduling proctored exams. Instructors can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org at the beginning of each semester to request a Schedule Exams tool in their Canvas couses and schedule exam date windows and time blocks for online exams.
Student Exam Scheduling
We can provide advice on helping students schedule an exam location and time slot using Schedule Exams found in the Canvas navigation in the instructor's online Canvas course.
Exam Help & Scheduling Support
We provide technical support to instructors and students experiencing difficulties setting up and accessing their exams operated by our exam services. We can assist with resetting exams, rescheduling, access, exceptions, approved materials, exam scheduling tools, virtual protoring, and out-of-area testing status.
Course Design & Development Consultations
We provide consultations on designing and developing quality face-to-face, hybrid, "flipped," and online courses. We will leverage current educational technology to help instructors reach their teaching goals.
Guides & Tutorials
Our guides, tutorials, and tips support faculty, staff, and students to utilize the most up-to-date educational technology available.
We are trained in University-licensed technology including Canvas, Kaltura, and Pathbrite. We specialize in current hardware and software that is used to support teaching and learning. We are available for consultations and demostrations for individuals and departments.
UOnline Course Development
We build and support courses developed for UOnline's fully-online degree programs.
We partner with the University of Utah Center for Disability Services to offer transcriptions and closed captioning for videos published to a variety of web-based services.
We duplicate DVD, CD, and VHS material in nearly any quantity. We also provide professional print labels and package DVDs and CDs in slimline jewel cases. We observe rights & restrictions when transferring or duplicating copyrighted materials.
We offer a variety of post-production video services such as shortening, lengthening, compiling, inserting titles, graphics and credits.
Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC)
We build and maintain facilites that connect to video and audio conferencing technologies, provided by the State of Utah, for meetings, events, and classes. We partner with departments to schedule conferencing connections in rooms for University of Utah sessions, and we offer assistance to technical facilitators with interactive conferences.
Live Stream Recording
We provide online video streaming services that allow instructors to publish links to recorded video files. Instructors can keep published video streams active, or they can archive the video streams for future use.
We video record lectures, guest speakers, student presentations, interviews and conference proceedings for University-related events taking place either on- or off-campus.
